James Madison Speech Writing Competition
Every Spring, Providence Christian College hosts a unique scholarship opportunity: The James Madison Speech Writing Competition.
This is an exclusive event for prospective Providence Witherspoon Honors Program students to compete for a full tuition scholarship.
Competition participants will submit both the written text and oral delivery of a 3-5 minute speech on an assigned topic.
This Year’s Topic
“What neglected American or western tradition is most pressing for a Gen-Z Christian to preserve and cultivate?”

Housing is available on campus for all competitors. The competition is only open to Witherspoon applicants. In order to compete, follow the application steps below.
Apply to The James Madison Speech Writing Competition
STEP 1
Apply to Providence Christian College
Complete the application and write “Witherspoon Honors Program – James Madison” in the application code field.
STEP 2
Schedule a Video Interview
Once your application is complete, email Paul Jimenez, Director of the Witherspoon Honors Program, to schedule a video interview in which you will discuss the James Madison Competition and your interest in being a Witherspoon student.
STEP 3
RSVP With an Admissions Counselor
You are required to contact admissions and confirm your participation in the James Madison Speech Writing Competition and indicate how many guests will be joining you for the competition.
